THE SACRED IMAGE IN THE CREATION OF VLADIMIR BOROVIKOVSKY

În prezentul articol ştiinţific se propune elucidarea unui aspect important din creaţia lui V. Borovikovsky, trecut cu vederea pe parcursul secolului XX — şi anume a celui legat de arta icoanei/tabloului religios. Se pune accentul pe icone-ul sacru obţinut de autor graţie sintezei dintre arta icoanei de la sfârşitul sec. XVIII şi arta portretului laic din sec. XIX. Se face analiza limbajului plastic al capodoperelor maestrului realizate pentru Catedrala Icoana Maicii Domnului din Kazan din Sankt Petersburg (1808—1811).

In the present scientific article the author proposes the elucidation of an important aspect from Vl. Borovikovsky’s creation overlooked during the 20th century -namely the aspect connected with the art of the icon — the sacred image. Emphasis is laid on the sacred image obtained by the author thanks to the synthesis between the icon art from the end of the 18th century and the art of the secular portrait from the 19th century. In the article there is an analysis of the plastic language of the master’s masterpieces realized for the Cathedral from Saint/ Peterburg — the Icon of the Holly Virgin from Kazan.
