Autorul abordeaza etimologia cuvântului “moldova”. El expune o noua ipoteza de provenienţă a acestuia. În conformitate cu ea, “moldova” ar proveni de la expresia “mal-dava”. Aceasta În limba geţilor ar însemna “cetate, localitate pe mal”. Nu este negată nici existenţa rădăcinii “mold”, care s-a păstrat în limba engleză şi germană.

The author deals with the etymology of the word “moldova”. It also sets a new hypothesis of its origin. According to it, “moldova” comes from “mal-dava” expression which means «city, a town on the shore”. There existence of the root of the word
„mold” is not denied, which was kept in English and German.
