Această lucrare prezintă o analiză muzicologică a Suitei polifonice În memoria lui D. Şostakovici, scrisă de compozitorul Victor Simonov în 1976, lucrarea ce a devenit un punct de reper nu numai pentru autorul ei, ci şi pentru toţi admiratorii marelui simfonist sovietic. Suita este un fel de dialog
muzical, care a constituit un tribut precum şi un omagiu al tânărului compozitor adus geniului recunoscut. Lucrarea include aluzii şi citate din creaţiile lui D. Şostakovici, organic întreţesute în materialul autorului V. Simonov, fapt care permite să o atribuim exemplelor strălucite ale muzicii
memoriale.

The article presents a musicological analysis of The Polyphonic Suite In memoriam of D.D. Shostakovich written by Victor Simonov in 1976. This work has become a reference mark not only for its author, but also for all admirers of the creativity of the great Soviet symphonist. The Polyphonic Suite is a kind of an original musical dialogue that became the young composer‟s tribute and expression of gratitude to the memory of the recognized genius. The composition includes allusions and quotations from D.D. Shostakovich’s musical works, organically interwoven in V. Simonov’s material that allows to take it to bright samples of memorial musical compositions.
