The article written by Tamara Melnic is dedicated to the accumulation and analysis of data which reflect the role of the piano in the cultural practice
of Moldova in the 18th—19th centuries. The most significant steps on this way were the private piano lessons. The Harmony society of music amateurs
founded in 1880, introduced general piano lessons at music schools. The author also stresses V. Gutor’s role in the above mentioned process.
