În acest articol sunt comparate figurile istorice a doi compozitori-contemporani – Mihail Berezovschi şi Dobri Hristov, reprezentanţi ai diferitelor culturi muzicale, şi sunt discutate trei opere muzicale ecleziastice importante. Am descoperit unele concordanţe biografice şi preferinţele muzicalculturale comune ale acestor compozitori. Aceasta lucrare de compare-şi-de contrast este, de asemenea, despre efectele interacţiunii dintre genul canonic al liturghiei muzicale ortodoxe răsăritene şi o abordare individuală a compozitorilor, demonstrate prin analiza structurii muzicale şi a surselor tradiţionale monodice în „Liturghia Sfântului Ioan Gură de Aur” a muzicianului bulgar sau moldovean. Orientarea stilistică a Liturghiilor celor doi autori este reprezentativă pentru tradiţia locală de cântare bisericească şi include componenta bizantină într-o formă adaptată pentru contextul naţional de cântare psaltică în limba română sau bulgară, interferentă cu cantare corală armonică.

In this article two historical figures of composers-contemporaries, representatives of different musical cultures – Mihail Berezovschi and Dobri Hristov are compared and their three important musical ecclesiastic works are considered. In a point-by-point scheme we have discovered some biographical concordances and common musical cultural preferences of these composers. This compareand- contrast paper is also about the interaction effects between the canonical genre of the Eastern Orthodox Musical Liturgy and the composers‟ individual approach to it substantiated by the analysis of
the musical structure and traditional monodic sources in “The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom” by the Bulgarian and Moldovan musicians. The stylistic orientation of the Liturgies of both authors is representative for the local church singing tradition, and includes the Byzantine component in an adapted form for the national context of psaltic singing in the Romanian or Bulgarian languages, interfering with choral harmonic singing.
