În prezentul articol se analizează perfecţionarea tehnicii interpretative la chitara bas la confluenţa anilor 1980-1990. Este evidenţiat rolul chitarei bas ca instrument muzical multifuncţional, capabil să unească simultan mai multe funcţii interpretative. Un interes deosebit îl reprezintă activitatea creativă a unor basişti cu renume de la sfârşitul anilor ‘80 şi începutul anilor ‘90 – Michael Peter Balzary (Flea), Michael Manring şi Brian Bromberg – care au influenţat semnificativ evoluţia interpretării la chitara bas. Abordarea de către muzicieni a tehnicilor moderne de emisie sonoră, precum slap-ul, tapping-ul cu ambele mâini (two-handed tapping), flajoletele şi altele, a permis atât dezvăluirea potenţialului tehnic bogat al chitarei bas cât şi formarea unor culori timbrale noi.

The article analyzes the improvement of bass guitar performance techniques at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. It emphasizes the role of the bass guitar as a multifunctional musical instrument capable of integrating several performance functions simultaneously. Of particular interest is the work of leading bassists of the late 1980s and early 1990s – Michael Peter Balzary (Flea), Michael Manring, and Brian Bromberg – who significantly influenced the development of bass guitar performance. The musicians’ approach to modern sound production techniques, such as slap, two-handed tapping, harmonics, and others allowed for the discovery of the bass guitar’s rich technical potential and the creation of new timbre colors.
