EPIGONI OF ENCAUSTIC TECHNIQUES

Encaustica — încercări târzii de regăsire, ne precizează: „punctul de vedere al scriitorului este acela că encaustica este mai veche şi că picturile în encaustică ale lui Polygnot, Nicanor şi Arcesilas din Parium sunt anterioare celor citate; de asemenea se poate ca Lysip să fi cunoscut encaustica întrucât scria pe tablourile pe care le picta la Egina; „Arse de Lysip“; din aceeaşi relatare rezultă că a pictat în acest fel, dar a şi dat lecţii şi că Pausias din Sicyon s-ar fi distins, fiind primul care a pictat portrete şi scene în această tehnică. Existau procedee distincte de folosire a encausticii, procese depinzând în bună parte de scopul în care se executa pictura sau colorarea ( când encaustica este destinată să protejeze pereţii navelor). Encaustica: Procedeu tehnic antic în care pigmenţii sunt aglutinaţi cu ceară şi alte ingrediente (răşini, uleiuri, gume) materialul de bază fiind ceara punică, ceara asigurând culorilor calităţi neobişnuite.

Encaustic- late attempts of finding, specifies (the writer`s point of view is the same) that encaustic is older and that the encaustic paintings of Polygnot, Nicanor and Arcesilas from Parium are prior to those mentioned; it is also possible that Lysip knew encaustics because he wrote on the pictures he painted in Egina: „Burnt by Lysip“ it results from the same statement that he painted in this manner and that he gave lessons and that Pausias from Sicyon might have distinguished himself becouse he was the first to paint portraits and scenes using this technique.
There are distinct methods of using encaustic techniques , methods that depend mainly on the purpose in which the painting or colouring is executed (when encaustic is used to protect the walls of ships). Encaustic: ancient method when the pigments are agglutinated with wax and other ingredients like oils, gum, resins but the main element is punic wax that confers an unusual aspect to colour.
