Lidia Agabalean a fost unul din cei mai importanţi pedagogi şi compozitori, ce şi-a desfăşurat activitatea în anii 70 ai secolului XX la catedra pian auxiliar a Institutului de Stat al Artelor din Moldova. A compus o operă, un şir întreg de lucrări cameral-instrumentale, aducând un aport
considerabil în lărgirea repertoriului cursului de pian auxiliar, cât şi numeroasele transcripţii au fost utilizate în permanenţă în cadrul procesului didactic. Ciclul pentru pian „Ungheraşul copiilor” a reflectat în mare măsură caracterul novator al limbajului componistic al L. Agabalean, incluzând
elemente modal-armonice şi facturale ale tehnicilor componistice ale secolului

Lidia Agabalean was one of the most important pedagogues and composers who worked in the 1970‟s at the general piano department of the State Institute of Arts from Moldova. She wrote an opera, chamber instrumental pieces, making a significant contribution to the repertoire for this discipline. Her pieces for piano as well as numerous transcriptions were permanently used in the education process. The piano cycle „Children‟s corner” reflects the innovative nature of her musical language, involving modal, harmonic, texture elements of contemporary techniques of 20th century composition – polytonalitaty, sonoristics, cromatisation of the musical language.
