INTERSECTIONS OF ROMANTICISM AND EXPRESIONISM IN AN OPERA SALOMÉ OF THE RICHARD STRAUSS

Influences of recent romanticism, dramatic art of the O.Wilde, Wagner’s musical drama and symphonic poem of the F. Liszt are revealed. Different levels and aspects of the conflict in a content of an opera are considered. The specific character of treatment of leitmotives, features of their grouping among themselves is analysed. Parallels between the concept of an opera, the doctrine of the S.Freud and dramatic expressionist`art are revealed. Motives of a sexual inclination, fear, obsession, characteristic for behaviour of heroes of an opera are underlined.
