This article reveals the musical perception through mental process as well as the differentiation of music content duet o timbre characteristics (categories) by children of preschool age. We present the method of sound „coloring” for the efficiency of the process development of musical timbre hearing. The method of sound „coloring” is analyzed through two levels:
– a verbal level
– a non verbal level
