This article analyzes the timbre palette of Pavel Rivilis’s “Symphonic Dances” (second movement). The innovation in the orchestra treatment was embodied by the timbral contrast of the Clarinet family instruments and comparison of various register areas of woodwind instruments of one kind. The second movement of the “Symphonic Dances” is characterized by colorful orchestral writing, a large number of woodwind solo timbres and a reinforcement of each texture component of this
work.
