Trompeta ocupă un loc de frunte în componența orchestrelor de jazz, începând cu primele banduri apărute la sfârșitul sec. XIX până în zilele noastre. De-a lungul anilor atât orchestra de jazz cât și partida trompetei în cadrul acesteia au evoluat permanent, încorporând caracteristicele diverselor stiluri și curente muzicale. În articolul de față este trasată evoluția istorică a orchestrelor de jazz reflectată în activitatea celor mai cunoscute formații, fiind menționați conducătorii lor, precum și trompetiștii celebri care au influențat dezvoltarea artei orchestrale în domeniul jazzului.

The trumpet has occupied a leading place in the composition of jazz orchestras, starting with the first bands that appeared at the end of the 19th century to the present day. Throughout these years, both the jazz orchestra and the trumpet part within it have evolved permanently, incorporating the characteristics of various styles and musical currents. The present article traces the historical evolution of the jazz orchestras reflected in the performances of the most famous bands, metioning their conductors, as well as the famous trumpeters who influenced the development of the orchestral art in the jazz field.
