IMPACTUL CURENTELOR ARTISTICE EUROPENE ASUPRA DEZVOLTĂRII GENULUI PORTRETULUI SCULPTURAL ÎN BASARABIA INTERBELICĂ
ARTICOL

European artistic trends represent a referral for the development of the interwar sculptural portraiture. The school, which the predecessors Terentie Zubka and Vladimir Okushko graduated from, was based on the famous artistic currents of the 19th century such as realism and impressionism. The themes of the image of workers penetrated into the work of the Moldovan sculptor Alexandru Plamadeala, mainly in his work, which represents a half-naked male fi gure „The Worker” (1921, tinted gypsum), whose portrait details are clearly related to realism, passed through the prism of Russian art. The „Portrait of Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu” (1936, tinted gypsum), by Alexandru Plamadeala was relevant for impressionist sculpture. In the light of recent studies, the infl uence of European currents on the creation of the sculptors who emigrated to Europe aft er 1940, is inestimable in the following period of their activity. The interwar sculptural portrait on the territory of Bessarabia remains a genre of art that proposes original solutions.
