Teatrul spiritual constituie un fenomen unic al artei teatrale europene din jumătatea a doua a sec. XX. El s-a format în procesul căutărilor arhetipului unui teatru comun întregii omeniri. Spiritualitatea teatrului nu poate fi determinată de apartenenţa lui la o religie sau alta, ci de disponibilitatea acestuia de a deveni purtătorul de idei al măreţelor tradiţii spirituale. Cei mai reprezentativi exponenţi ai teatrului spiritual sunt Peter Brook şi Jerzy Grotowski.

Spiritual Theatre is a unique phenomenon of the European theatre art in the second half of the 20th century. It was formed in the search a prototype of human theater.
