THE ROMANIAN COMPOSER VIOREL MUNTEANU: PORTRAIT SKETCH

The article makes an attempt to sketch the artistic profile of the composer Viorel Munteanu – a leading figure of the Romanian musical culture from the confluence of the 20th and 21th centuries with a multidimensional spectrum of activities: composer, musicologist, music editor, critic, professor, manager. The compositional creation of V. Munteanu, inspired in Romanian folklore and old Byzantine songs, includes works of different genres and presents a unique and totally original combination of secular traditions of national and world music and contemporary compositional techniques.
