Conţinutul articolului se referă la un element important al sculpturii – postamentul/soclul. Pe postament sunt încrustate toate datele principale legate de tematica sculpturii, tehnica executării, timpul în care a fost executată şi numele autorului. Soclurile pot fi diferite după formă, mărime şi proporţie. Modalităţile de interpretare a soclului/postamentului în sculptură necesită cunoaşterea scopului amplasării sculpturii într-un anumit mediu arhitectural sau peisagistic. În articol sunt analizate ca exemple unele socluri din operele marelui sculptor român C. Brâncuşi.

The content of the article deals with an important element of the sculpture – the pedestal/ plinth. On it are inlaid all the main data related to the theme of the sculpture, the technique of execution, the time when it was executed and the name of the author. Pedestals can differ in shape, size and proportion. The ways of interpreting the pedestal/plinth in sculpture require knowledge of the purpose of its placement in a particular architectural or landscape environment. Some pedestals from the works of the great Romanian sculptor C. Brâncuşi are also analyzed as examples.
