În articol este abordat fenomenul muzicii rap, insistându-se asupra motivelor care au determinat apariţia acesteia, asupra celor două caracteristici de bază ale ei: muzica rap, ca expresie a realităţilor sociale, ca platformă de protest, şi muzica rap, ca formă de poezie, de artă autentică. Iniţial, se face o trecere în revistă a istoricului muzicii rap prin referire la grupuri şi nume concrete de rapperi din arealul universal. Textul oferă şi o analiză a fenomenului rap din Republica Moldova, urmărindu-se cronologic formarea şi dezvoltarea scenei locale de rap. Sunt scoase în evidenţă temele recurente ale muzicii rap din Republica Moldova – emigrarea, corupţia, marginalizarea, suferinţele emoţionale, mersul pe contrasens al tinerilor etc. Un aspect important abordat vizează stilistica textului cântat/rostit de rapperi. Se aduc în discuţie, prin referire la texte concrete, trăsăturile stilistice specifice genului: rimele complexe, repetiţiile, jocurile de cuvinte, laitmotivul, alături de funcţia cathartică a versurilor. Textul cercetării contribuie semnificativ la înţelegerea rapului nu doar ca un gen muzical, ci şi ca formă de rezistenţă artistică şi discurs identitar, în care expresivitatea este dublată de un mesaj social sau psihologic relevant. Se oferă, totodată, o perspectivă echilibrată asupra limbajului vulgar, evitând generalizările şi oferind o grilă critică de analiză.

The article addresses the phenomenon of rap music, emphasizing the reasons behind its emergence and its two fundamental characteristics: rap as an expression of social realities/a platform for protest, and as a form of poetry and authentic art. It begins with an overview of the history of rap music, referencing specific groups and well-known rappers from the global scene. The text also offers an analysis of the rap phenomenon in the Republic of Moldova, tracing the chronological formation and development of the local rap scene. Recurrent themes in Moldovan rap are highlighted–emigration, corruption, marginalization, emotional suffering, and the youth’s counter-current stance, among others. An important aspect discussed is the stylistics of the sung/spoken text performed by rappers. Specific texts are used to illustrate the stylistic features of the genre: complex rhymes, repetition, wordplay, leitmotif, along with the cathartic function of the lyrics. This research significantly contributes to the understanding of rap not only as a musical genre but also as a form of artistic resistance and identity discourse, where expressiveness is paired with a relevant social or psychological message. At the same time, the article offers a balanced perspective on vulgar language, avoiding generalizations and providing a critical framework for analysis.
